Camellia Sinensis or Tea is a medicinal plant originated in China was commonly used for cure purpose alone during 2800B.C. by Chinese Herbal Physicians. Until the British Invasion it was China the sole producer and exporter of Tea in the World. After the Opium Wars the Tea Plantation stepped into the outlands of China and reached India and later spread towards the west.

In India ,Darjeeling was the initial location fixed by the East India Company for Tea Plantation with a failure in the beginning stages , Tea Plantation picked up its pace in India. Now, India is the Top most contender with China in the Tea Mar¬keting with an impressive Tea varieties that suits different requirements.

Initially Tea was not meant for taste it was for cure with its bitter flavor and by addition of some herbs it was a medicine for various medicinal issues. Then it was consumed by the Kings of China as Prestigious liquor and it was shared to Royal Guests including the Priests and Traders of Portuguese, who recognized the flavor of Tea as a Commercial Liquor and started Trading it to the Western Europe.

This attracted the British to enter into the Tea Trading and they controlled the Tea Cultivation and Export in the earlier 17th Century and maintained the position till the Mid 19th Century. It was due British influence that the Tea received a global attraction and it was served from the Royal families to the economically lower ones.

The types of Tea that are available in Market includes

  White: Wilted and unoxidized

  Yellow: Unwilted and unoxidized, but allowed to yellow

  Green:Unwilted and unoxidized

  Oolong: Wilted, bruised, and partially oxidized

  Black: Wilted, sometimes crushed, and fully oxidized (called 'red tea' in China)

  Post-Fermented: Green tea that has been allowed to ferment/compost ('black tea' for the Chinese)
